About Me

My name is Sally DeCost and I've taught for 40 years in the state of New Hampshire. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, with a Master of Education Degree in Creative Arts in Learning. I have taught every grade from PreK through 8th grade, except 4th, but have spend most of my teaching days in Kindergarten, first and second. I've picked up a lot of tricks along the years, and I'm more than happy to share!

I have a passion for how the brain learns and brain based learning.  I've studied brain research to stay on top of information scientists have figured out about how the brain learns. Yes, I offer workshops and professional training in this area. (Contact me at elementarymatters@gmail for more information.)

I also have a passion for musical theatre. Not only do I love to watch musicals, I have performed in many! I bring my passion for music and dramatics into my classroom and into my blog.

I have the most amazing daughter ever.  For most of her life, it's just been the two of us.  (Her father left while she was still a toddler.)  Being a single mom was a huge challenge, but she's completely worth it!  She graduated from college, lived in Boston for years, and is now living with her husband in the San Francisco area.

As expected, my daughter is also a fan of theatre!

I love living in New Hampshire, although there are days in the winter where I wish I lived someplace where the winters were shorter and the summers were longer.  But this is where my roots are, so this is home.
