30 Days of Self Affirmations: Day 7 - I don't mind looking ridiculous, if it gets the attention expected!

Today is the seventh day of my 30 days of Self-Affirmations!
Here's today's affirmation:

Day 7: I don't mind looking ridiculous if it gets the attention expected! 30 Days of Self-Affirmations: Day 7: For 30 days, I will be celebrating my own "new year" with self-affirmations. Won't you join me?

I don't mind looking ridiculous if it gets the attention expected!

This affirmation refers to the classroom as well as the stage.

Although I've never been an "attention hog," (I spent most of my childhood trying to hide... especially from the nuns!) When I have a point to be made, I expect attention! When on stage, it was usually involved in a comedy (like Nunsense, above.) In the classroom, it was learning that I was always trying to get across.

I remember one time, pretending to faint in the doorway between two classroom. I can't, for the life of me, what I was "fainting" about, but I recall as I was lying on the floor, "unconscious," I had the attention of two classrooms full of children.

I often fake cry, fake being sick, speak with an accent or a funny voice, or generally just do something ridiculously silly to get the attention of the kiddos. After a while, the children learned to applaud for my "over-acting!" They always laugh, but they also got my point!

I didn't realize it until recently, but I got this from my father.

Recently, this book was released about my childhood days and the very successful football team from that town, coached by my dad. Typically, I wouldn't read a book about football, but this book told the story of my father's life and career. (Click the book or click HERE to find out more about this book. Even if you just read the blurb on the website about my dad, you'll be almost as impressed as I am!)

As I read the book, I learned a lot about my dad and his techniques with his football players that I never knew! There were several references to his "antics" that got the attention of his players and made his points. And often made them laugh as well!

About the picture: Several years ago, I played the role of Sister Amnesia in a production of Nunsense. My character was called Sister "Amnesia" because she was hit on the head with a crucifix and couldn't remember who she was. In the picture, I'm singing a "duet" with "Sister Mary Annette" (get it... marionette?) about how to become a nun. It was very silly, and one of my very favorite shows that I've ever done! (This picture was taken at a dress rehearsal, before I'd figured out how to hide my hair!)
