It's the weekend! Finally! Thank goodness for a long weekend, since it's been a very hectic week!
Somehow, it makes it a tad easier when this is what you see when you look out your window!
2. We explored with Christopher Columbus! We did a guided imagery of the trip, from saying goodbye to loved ones in Spain, to working on the ship, eating the food, experiencing a storm (complete with very dramatic seasickness!), the fear of falling off the edge of the earth, the thrill of sighting land, and lowering the anchors and walking onto the shore of what they thought was India.
When I asked the today what details they remembered about Columbus, they recalled all the details! They even remembered that Italy looked like a high heeled boot and that he was looking for spices and gold to bring back to Spain. We had a little bit of a discussion on how some people think Columbus wasn't kind to the Native Americans. I kept the controversial part quite short, but I wanted to put the bug in their ears. I like to have them thinking and having opinions!
3. My kids have really been having trouble with counting, so I made these booklets. Click the link for the freebie! My kids loved them!
4. I'm getting out of town, and I'm going to see this guy!
This is my gentleman friend who has been living about 3 hours away. Luckily, we're both good at texting and facebook messaging! I can't wait to see him!
5. This bundle has been extended until Sunday! If you're a second grade teacher, you really should grab this, it's incredible!
