We Need a Little Spring!

I know, it happens every year in March.  We've had about all we can take of cold weather and snow gear and shoveling and scraping.  We need spring.  This year seems worse than most for some reason.

Well, it might have something to do with my yard looking like this:
Depressing, isn't it?  And to make matters worse, it's supposed to snow again tonight!

Enough is enough!

So, I'm trying to think of ways to lift my own spirits as well as those of my students.  We need a little Spring!  Of course, now my head is singing... "We Need a Little Christmas".
But seriously, everyone is moping around and yawning these days.  We can't make the weather warmer and the flowers come out of the ground, but I think there are a few things we can do.

I've been playing fun, "feel good" music when the kids come into class in the morning.  This morning I played one of my very favorite feel good songs.... Respect by Aretha Franklin!

I'm also going out of my way to find good things happening in my classroom, so that the kids earn plenty of points so they can earn some fun stuff.  Their favorite thing:  art projects!  You'd better believe there will be some spring flowers and butterflies in my classroom tomorrow!

One thing that always lifts me out of the doldrums is..... shopping!

It just so happens I put my Spring Game Collection for sale at half price from now until Sunday night.  This is your chance to grab some great games at quite a discount!  Click the image to see the product description!

How do you lift spirits when everyone's in the doldrums?
What kind of music do you play?
What activities can get them back on track?

  1. No such luck here in Cambodia. I'd give anything for a little of your snow and cooooool weather. We are sweltering in 100 degree plus temperatures daily, with little sign of relief until the rains come in May. Oh and while I think of it we're getting power cuts of 3 - 5 hours a day most school days! That means no airconditioning, just a few fans and still able to use computers and data projectors. My kids are so good about it, after all there's nothing I can do to change the situation, but we're always grateful when the power comes back on!!!

Meanwhile, hope you beat those snowy day blues and had some fun with Spring themes in your classroom.
