Halfway Day, Groundhogs, and More!

I know most people have been celebrating the 100th day of school, but for us, tomorrow is day 90.  That's the halfway point of the school year, so tomorrow I'm celebrating Halfway Day!

I just had to come up with something for my students to do at a center, so I whipped up this little printable.  (It supports this CCSS standard: 2.G.3a  Partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of,etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths.  Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.)

I was also looking forward to Friday, where I wanted to celebrate the two big things this weekend with extra math!  So I whipped up these story problems with a groundhog theme and a football theme.  Click the image to see this product at Teachers Pay Teachers.

I also have some fun stuff at THIS BLOG POST for Groundhog Day and Super Bowl Sunday, including a few freebies!!

  1. We are doing the Happy Dance right along with ya! We don't hit 100 until next week and are celebrating the downhill slide after that!
What a fun way to incorporate fractions. Your Super Bowl and Groundhog's stuff-what a fun way to practice math!
