Groundhog Day and Superbowl Freebies!

We only have 3 weeks of school in February, and there's so much to do!  I've been putting together my ideas to celebrate all that's happening!

Two of the big days of February are coming up next weekend!

Starting with Groundhog Day, Saturday February 2:
Here's a little Groundhog Day freebie to practice the consonant +le syllable.  You can download the freebie by clicking the image.

Here's another Groundhog Themed game on prefixes and suffixes:  My kids love this, and they're getting awesome at naming the baseword in words with prefixes and suffixes! (Click the image!)

Then of course, what good is any holiday without a little fun literature!
Gail Gibbons is one of my favorite authors for this age group!  She puts information into books that kids can easily understand, and this Groundhog Day book is one of her best! Click the image for a link to Amazon to see more!

Groundhog Weather School is adorable and clever!  I love when a fiction book combines a sense of humor with information.  In between silly groundhog weather instruction, readers learn nice little animal facts! (Click the image.)

Don't forget one of my favorite movies!  After all, adults need their humor too!  (I love Bill Murray in this... click the image!)

The day after Groundhog Day is the Super Bowl!

I have tons of football themed learning games in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.  Here's one of my freebies for the kids to practice 3 digit numbers.  (Click the image!)

Do your kids love these Sports Illustrated books as much as mine do? (Click the image.)

One last freebie:  a map for the 2013 Super Bowl!  This is for beginning mappers, with icons right on the map to help the children find the home of the two teams as well as the host city! Click the image to download this freebie.

  2. Sally, I just want to say thanks for the freebies! I will use them this week in class. Also, your book recommendations are always great. I've already requested the three above from my local library to read this week! For a new second grade teacher, you are a lifesaver!
