Value Our Heroes

I can't believe yet another anniversary of the horror of 9/11 is coming up this week. Although I certainly don't want to go into detail about something that is beyond their comprehension and happened before they were born, as a proud American citizen, I just can't let the day go by without doing something.

Last year I decided to celebrate heroes. I made this freebie. I focused the day on heroes and had the children write about their own heroes. (See THIS blog post from a year ago).

To honor the 10th anniversary of the day, I wrote about my experiences of September 11th on another post. As I reread THIS post, I relive those moments all over again. I'm not sure why I feel compelled to relive it, as it was horrible enough that first time. I guess it's because I feel the need to remind myself that I am pretty darn lucky today, that none of my loved ones were a part of it. Or perhaps it's because I need the reminder to value my country and the heroes we are blessed with.

  2. Thanks for sharing! This comes at a wonderful time. I have several active military dads this year. I cannot wait to have my kids do this activity and send it to their dads.
